The story of Tony Stark and his disciples. 
The Avengers may be a strong team, but they will inevitably meet their doom, one day or another. When Tony Stark’s plan for an artificially intelligent global defence system codenamed “Ultron” turns against its human masters, murderous robots are soon running rampage and it’s up to Earth’s mightiest heroes to save the day. This time teaming up with brother and sister duo; Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch to destroy the team, once and for all.
Age of Ultron achieves exactly what it sets out to do, which is to entertain. Chris Evans delivers as Captain America, (even though I still stand by the fact that his character isn’t particularly exciting) and Scarlett Johansson portrays Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow with great versatility and flexibility. Mark Ruffalo still portrays The Hulk masterfully, but his role in the film was much weaker than expected; the Hulk was somewhat underwhelming. I feel the main element that stopped me from liking this film further was Robert Downey Jr. In all honesty, he just doesn’t do it for me, never has and never will. For me, he had far too much screen time. Many would argue different. The new additions Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Johnson, and Paul Bettany are solid and bring extra flare into the film’s ingredients. Well, that’s about it.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is a good film, but not a great one. There are no signs of serious motives, as well as narrative structure. The action sequences are mediocre (as to be expected from Marvel), and the humour is hardly amusing. Tense scenes are oddly interrupted with typical Whedon humour that’s beginning to feel tiresome. A good experience in IMAX. But all in all, another over-hyped flick where the critical opinion is higher than it should be. Hopefully Ant-Man will be better.

I wonder how Downey Jr will affect your rating for Captain America and Spider Man 3 as he is rumored to be a bit of a main character in Cap and a guest star role in Spider Man. At the very least, Ant Man seems to really be relying on its own power so we probably don’t need to be worried about that one. I’m still glad that this one was a little better for you than the first film.
This title definitely had a lot of the Whedon style humor as heroes and villains alike would constantly be making jokes despite the danger. Thor was getting choked in one scene and he was still joking and the heroes didn’t really take Quicksilver’s big moment as solemnly as you would expect. It can be a little off putting or odd, but I really don’t mind because I feel like the jokes are well written. There’s no crude humor or anything or the sort, which would have destroyed it for me. Solid review!

Do you mind me asking what your favourite Marvel film is? Personally I think Guardians of the Galaxy is the best.

Of course not! My favourite Marvel film, just like you, is Guardians of the Galaxy! I will have to write a review for it soon! I like The Amazing Spider Man franchise also. I have high hopes for Ant-Man too, as it is likely to be a whole new ball game! Other than that, I wouldn’t say I was a huge fan of Marvel. Personally, I prefer the DC comic adaptations!

Oh dear, 2/5? I’m yet to see the film, but I’m coming across more and more reviews that seem to indicate this isn’t up to par.

Yes, I’m afraid so. I’m not the biggest fan of Marvel anyway, so I guess my opinion could be argued to be slightly bias on this case. I agree, lots of reviews have backed this up to a certain degree. It’s either hit or miss! Thanks for reading.

As a non-Marvel fan, I’m inclined to be more open to your views than someone caught up in the hype. I think these films should be able to stand up to the scrutiny of a general cinema fan, as well as the Marvel die-hards. I shall proceed with caution with this one. Good review, by the way.

I particularly enjoyed Guardians of the Galaxy. Although it sagged just a little towards the end, I felt that it captured the sense of fun that a comic book film should strive for. I also really enoyed the Netflix series, Daredevil. It’s very gritty, but it spends a lot of time creating depth, something that’s hard to achieve in a big summer blockbuster.
Overall, though, I think the 1978 Superman film is my favourite comic book film. It hit every mark, in opinion. The performance from Christopher Reeve was pitch perfect. Sorry, you probably didn’t want a rambling answer like that.

Me too – I absolutely love Daredevil, one of the best things to come out of Marvel!! Christopher Reeve was definitely the best Superman, I stand by you with that.

I was also quite underwhelmed by this one, and agree Whedon’s usual humour (particularly coming from Ultron himself) somewhat ruined the tension. So you didn’t like the first Avengers either? Wow, each to their own I guess!
